Whose Improv Is It Anyway? : On-The-Spot Satire
Game Description : Show-Stopping Number
Game Title : Show-Stopping Number
Game Category : Musical
Number Of People : 4 (3 actors and 1 moderator)
Difficulty Rating : **** (Difficult - Music, Prop/Musician
Time Estimate : 4 minutes
Items Necessary : Background Music/Musician
Prompts Needed : Scenario (1)
Preparation :
- The background music should be recorded ahead of time or a live musician should be present to perform. If the music is recorded, it should be recorded 3 times in a row (once for each actor that will need it so rewinding is not necessary). The music should be familiar to the actors because the music's style is set and not changing.
Procedure(s) :
- The game begins with only 2 of the actors acting out the scenario prompt.
- At some point, the moderator buzzes (or yells out "Now") and that actor then stops the show and turns the line they just completed saying into a song (about 30 seconds in length).
- After both of the other two actors have sung their "show-stopping numbers", the third actor joins.
- At some point, the moderator buzzes (or yells out "Now") and the third actor stops the show and turns the line they just completed saying into a song (about 30 seconds in length).
- Each actor only sings once.
Closure :
- The game is over once the third actor's song is over.
Variations :
- Change the number of actors, change the number of songs each actor sings, have the actors all sing each song together instead of one at a time.
