NanoFictionary - Official Rules
- Phase 1 : The Set-Up
1.1 Put all of the "Grand Prize" cards and "Runner Up" cards in a pile, and set them aside.
1.2 Put the six place cards ("1", "2", "3", "4", "5", & "6") in a pile in the center of the table.
1.2.1 ("6" should be on the very top, then "5", then "4", then "3", then "2", and then "1")
1.2.2 If fewer than 6 playing, use the correct number of place cards.
1.3 Shuffle all of the rest of the cards well and set them in a pile (the "main pile") next to the six place cards.
- Phase 2 : The Beginning
2.1 Deal out five cards to each player.
2.2 As each player is ready to begin, they touch the main pile with one of their pointer fingers.
2.3 When all players are touching the main pile, everyone draws a card (order doesn't matter).
- Phase 3 : The Cards - Turn Sequence
3.1 Each player plays one card (for action cards, follow all directions on the card) (OR go to 3.4).
3.1.1 Players may have as many Character cards in play as they want.
3.1.2 Players may have only one Setting card in play (unless an Action card says otherwise).
3.1.3 Players may have only one Problem card in play (unless an Action card says otherwise).
3.1.4 Players may have only one Resolution card in play (unless an Action card says otherwise).
3.2 Resolution cards may be played face down (for a surprise ending), but do not have to be.
3.3 All other cards (non-Resolution cards) must be played face up.
3.4 If a player chooses not to play a card, they may discard any number of cards from the hand and draw so they are holding 5 cards instead.
3.5 After playing a card or discarding/drawing, each player should be back to exactly 5 cards in their hand.
3.6 After playing their card or discarding/drawing, each player touches the main pile with one of their pointer fingers.
3.7 When all players are touching the main pile, everyone draws a card (order doesn't matter).
- Phase 4 : The Cards - Completing Your Story
4.1 A player can complete their story only when they have at least one each : Character, Setting, Problem, & Resolution.
4.2 The first player to complete their story (to "go out") grabs the "6" place card.

4.5 Players that have taken a place card CAN NOT be plagiarized.
4.6 When the second-to-last place card is taken, the last remaining player can finish the current turn and MAY take one additional full turn.
4.7 If the last player does not have at least one of each card (Character, Setting, Problem, & Resolution), they can not create a story.
4.8 If the last player does not have at least one of each card (Character, Setting, Problem, & Resolution), they may still vote.

6.3.2 Each player passes out all of their voting and dummy cards before the next player begins.
6.3.3 It doesn't matter who votes in what order.
6.3.4 A player can not vote for themself.
6.4 AFTER all players have votes, judges give 2 points to their favorite story (they put their 2 cents in).
6.5 AFTER any judges present vote, THEN players look at the voting and/or dummy cards they received.
6.6 Players add up their total number of points ...
